Im almost glad that the sun stayed in for this shot as it would have been on the wrong side if it had been shining. Lots of people out to see this excursion of which quite a few thought it was going to be Flying Scotsman and were a little disappointed to find out it wasn't. The train was checked at this point for a foot crossing a little further down the line where there seemed to be quite a crowd of spectators which looked a little to close to the line, hence the black smoke!
Its amazing just how much of a resurgence of interest in steam excursions has come about since Scotsman returned to the mainline. I just hope all the idiots who have been trespassing realise that the more it happens the more likely Network Rail will ban steam on the mainline altogether and for good. I get the feeling they are already looking for an excuse to do just that.
