Another Russ Hillier photo charter but this time at the SVR with the Caledonian loco No828. No828 is the sole surviver of the 812 class of loco built and designed by J F McIntosh for express freight, excursion traffic and the Clyde coast fast boat trains. Built in August 1899 at St Rollox works. She also uses McIntosh's Dunalastair boiler which was regarded as one of the major developments in British Locomotive engineering. Sadly the weather was not on our side for this charter. The day started with a glimmer of sunshine and went downhill as the day progressed. Not all was lost though, as I think there is a a couple of shots in amongst the mix somewhere that are quite pleasing.
Nice set of piccies, the low light shows the inside cylinders leaking very well,so it adds more to the pictures,I like the ones heading out of Bewdley towards Bridgenorth, and the ones on Kidderminster turntable with the sleeping car in the background.

You have done it again Rick. Another superb set of photos'! The pristine Caledonian Blue of the engine against the wonderful autumn colours is almost breathtaking. Looking forward to seeing your next photo shoot. Your photos are nearly a world away from Neil's old ones -- call me strange but I like to browse through both!!
