This small very friendly railway runs through the Leicestershire countryside between the villages of Shakerstone and Shenton its approximately 5 miles long. Operated and manned entirely by very enthusiastic volunteers. There is just one station midway which is Market Bosworth which has only recently been opened for public access.
The loco sheds can be found at Shakestone where you will also find quite a large fleet of Heritage diesels. It also houses a small but fascinating museum that is filled to the brim with all sorts of railway memorabilia within the original Midland railway station building. The cafe is one of the best I've ever visited which supplies home made cakes and freshly cooked breakfasts!
The resident steam locos are Sir Gomer and The Mayflower and another small industrial tank engine.
